Our Focus
Our Focus
Psychological and physiological stress is known to negatively affect numerous aspects of an individual’s well-being. The lab focuses on researching and understanding different mechanisms that cause or mediate our stress response, as well as alter our perceptions of stress. These findings may provide the key to unlocking methods for a healthier lifestyle.
Research Projects
Environmental Causes of Stress
One major focus of research in the lab is to ascertain the environmental causes and mediators of the stress response, such as air pollution, pandemic, and social movements.
Psychological & Physiological Mechanisms
INI focuses on understanding the psychological and physiological responses to stress reactivity. The COVID study’s aim is to understand perceptions and mental health during the novel coronavirus.
Methods and Measures
The INI lab investigates the methods that measure acute stress, such as the TSST, Cold Pressor Test, physiological biomarkers of stress such as salivary cortisol and heart rate variability.
